LIB,
the Lebanese institution for the blind is a private charity
organisation that takes care of and rehabilitates the blind. It is engaged solely in the social
and humanitarian work and is not involved in any political activities.
It
was founded in 1986 by a blind man, Dr Issa El - Maalouf and it was
licensed by the Lebanese Government in 1987 as per the decree 146 / A.D.
Integrate
the blind people in the society.
Taking
care of the blind medically, psychologically, socially and
economically and providing them with a scientific, cultural and
professional education.
LIB
staff are primarily blind, a blind receptionist welcomes you, a
blind switch board operator handles the phone board and handles
the task of directing LIB’s busses towards their destination.
The
blind men and women teach each other. The board of directors is
constituted entirely from blind people. Moreover it is worth
pointing out that the institution’s accounting, finance and
filing departments are all computerised.
